AUTHOR Robert Lloyd Russell
Award-Winning Christian Nonfiction
Known in business for his ability to explain complex topics in simple-to-understand ways, Robert Lloyd Russell carries this skill over to his writing. Readers have described his writing as "living theology and practical discipleship."
Robert summarizes his goal in writing as follows: I’d rather write what the Spirit guides and have no readers, than to appeal to more readers without the Spirit’s guidance. Stated more simply, I write for an audience of One and leave the results to Him.
That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving, and tell of all Thy wondrous works. ~ Psalm 26:7
Robert Lloyd Russell's books have won a number of national and international literary awards including a World Book Award (one of just three awards across all genres). Additionally, he is the editor of books containing transcribed spoken messages of martyred missionary Jim Elliot. As a small boy Mr. Russell lived in the Elliot home prior to Jim’s departure for the mission field. The transcriptions were carefully made from old wire recordings, the forerunner of magnetic tape recordings. Jim’s father was one of Mr. Russell’s spiritual mentors. Robert Lloyd Russell has a diverse business background which spans many functions including engineering, manufacturing, sales, marketing, and staff positions. His technical career included the management of a wide variety of engineers, physicists, and scientists in the high-technology industry. During the 1970s while he was Camera Engineering Manager for a Fortune 500 corporation, he became fascinated with the characteristics of light which he has since written about. In the early 1970s a senior executive of a major corporation began seeking his opinions and advice. This was the beginning of a part-time consulting business. From 1990 until his retirement in 2005, he devoted his entire career to advising and coaching many executives in a variety of organizations. Based in Portland, Oregon, his consulting practice routinely provided coaching and counseling on a wide range of business issues including ethics, overall effectiveness and profitability, organizational cultural issues, and Total Quality concepts. During the 1980s as an active Christian businessman concerned about ethics, he enrolled in seminary and earned a Master of Christian Leadership degree from Western Seminary. For many years he was a popular adult Sunday School and Bible Study teacher. In summary, Mr. Russell refers to himself as a simple A-B-C kind of guy: Christian Author, Christian Blogger, and Christian Consultant and Coach.
